Gerle Creek Tract Bear Reports 2024

August 4 2024-Cheese Camp Road & Ice House Road Intersection-Heading down the mountain at 6:15AM this morning, I encountered a bear crossing the road just below the Cheese Camp turn.  They are getting closer with each report. Jeff #36

Strawberry Creek Tract Bear Reports 2024

July 11 2024-Hi Cabin Owners- Please know there was an aggressive bear in our tract late this afternoon that broke into / attempted to break into two cabins in Strawberry Circle (#17 and #21). Thanks to Don and Carol Lacey and John and Tina Small for proactively ensuring the bear eventually moved out of our tract. Special thanks to Don for utilizing Bear Spray and an Air Horn. He bears is reported to be brazen and unafraid of people. Here are a few photos of the front door on Lot 21 and the bear caught on the Smalls Ring Doorbell camera

Aspen Creek Tract Bear Reports 2024

6/23/24, at 3:45 am,  Bear entered 2 cabins, went through kitchen windows. Medium size brown bear seen during the day about 9 hours later. No fear shown when yelled at, no reaction to pounding of pots and pans together. Bear walked towards the group, then stopped to calmly forage nearby, appears comfortable around people. 

 

46 Milestone Tract Bear Reports 2024

 5/24/24-The same cabin has been repeatedly broken into over the years. A bear was spotted on 5/24/24 eating food outside. The large bear, black in color, had gone through the floor by way of a trap door into the kitchen. 

Bryant Creek, Fir Tract, Sayles Canyon Tract, Aspen Creek Tract, 46 Milestone and 47 milestone Tracts

Unknown date, Cabin on Tamerack Pines had paw prints on recently washed windows all around the cabin. The cabin owner will be putting shutters up when leaving in the future, to prevent a possible bear break in. 

6/27/24 bear broke into a cabin in 47 milestone. No other info currently. 

6/28, Bear attempted to break into a cabin in Bryant Creek around 8 pm, damage to screen door and a window screen. The dark in color bear was chased off by a dog, followed up by a few people yelling at it and running at it away from Bryant Creek Tract. Many cars on HWY 50 slowed and stopped, apparently at the sight of the bear and possibly to prevent hitting it. 

6/28, at 8:30:  a large dark brown and black colored bear was seen on Mt Ralston Rd. 

6/28, Between 8:30 and 10 pm: a RV on Mt Ralston  Rd was entered by a bear through a window. The RV contained many food  items, cheese, meat, mayo, butter, bacon, s’mores makings, etc which were consumed. The owners of the RV had gone to visit neighbors, returned noticing food on an outside rug. Owners of the RV are working on adding bear deterrents to their property and RV. 

6/29, a medium size, light brown bear was spotted on the deck of a cabin on Mt Ralston Rd, ran off on it’s own, no harm done. 

7/17 on the north side of 47 milestone, a bear tore through a storm door secured by a metal brace , which is still in place, broke most of the panes out of a glass door. There was a small amount of canned food inside, cabin hasn’t been occupied this year.

5/22/24-Bear activity in Bryant Creek. 3 cabins and a car were broken into
